AI Recipe – High Protein Oatmeal
Needing an easy, high protein breakfast? So were we. So, as part of our Cooking with AI series, Tiffany asked our AI assistant, Orion, to make her a high protein oatmeal recipe. Orion gave her a full recipe and she gave it a try.
You can watch the Instagram reel and view the full recipe below and even save it to your own MyFoodPlanet account to use it in your meal plan.
Why High Protein Oatmeal?
High protein oatmeal is a nutritious and delicious breakfast option that provides sustained energy and essential nutrients to start your day on the right note. This is a great way to add whole grains and complex carbs into your daily nutrition. Plus, by incorporating high-protein ingredients into oatmeal, you can enhance its nutritional profile and create a satisfying meal that fuels your body and mind.
Protein Additions
One of the simplest ways to boost the protein content of oatmeal is by adding protein-rich toppings and mix-ins. Ingredients such as protein powders, Greek yogurt, milk, nuts, seeds, and nut butter are excellent sources of protein that complement the natural flavors and textures of oatmeal. Greek yogurt, in particular, adds creaminess and a tangy flavor while contributing a significant amount of protein per serving. Additionally, incorporating milk, whether dairy or plant-based, not only enriches the oatmeal’s consistency but also increases its protein content.
In our AI Hight Protein Oatmeal Recipe, Orion suggested using protein powder and milk. We chose to use Orgain Vanilla Superfood Protein.
Healthy Fats and More
Nuts and seeds, such as almonds, walnuts, chia seeds, and flaxseeds, are nutrient-dense additions that provide healthy fats, fiber, vitamins, minerals, and, importantly, protein. Sprinkling a handful of these crunchy and flavorful toppings over your oatmeal not only enhances its taste and texture but also adds a satisfying crunch and boosts its nutritional value.
Nut butter, including peanut butter, almond butter, or cashew butter, is another excellent way to increase the protein content of oatmeal while imparting richness and depth of flavor. These spreads also offer healthy fats and can help create a creamy consistency that makes oatmeal even more enjoyable to eat.
We chose to simple add some nuts to our oatmeal.
Sweeteners
In addition to enhancing the protein content, it’s essential to maintain the healthfulness of oatmeal by minimizing added sugars and opting for natural sweeteners like honey, maple syrup, or mashed fruits. These alternatives provide sweetness without the negative effects of refined sugars, ensuring that your oatmeal remains a wholesome and nutritious breakfast choice.
We just used some berries but some natural honey is also an option.
Modifications
This recipe came out great overall but we did feel the liquid amount was a bit too much for our taste. I’d recommend reducing the amount of milk by about half of a cup if you don’t like your oatmeal soupy.
Other than that, this recipe was amazing! I hope you enjoy!
