Why Cook Frozen Chicken Breasts in the Instant Pot?
Cooking frozen chicken breasts in an Instant Pot can be a real game-changer in the kitchen, especially when you’re short on time or forget to thaw your chicken in advance. Trust me, we’ve all been there!
Thawing frozen chicken breasts and then cooking them to perfection without drying them out is not easy using conventional methods. Using the Instant Pot to cook chicken breasts from frozen changes all of that.
AI Recipe - Frozen Chicken Breasts in the Instant Pot: The Process
Prep: You don’t need many ingredients to make frozen chicken breasts in the Instant Pot. Just grab your trusty Instant Pot and those frozen chicken breasts straight from the freezer. No need to panic about defrosting; we’re skipping that step altogether!
Other than that, you just need some broth and some spices. The spices given by Orion in this recipe are pretty simple, but feel free to use whatever you think will taste good.
Set Up The Instant Pot: Now, let’s set the stage in your Instant Pot. Add your chicken breasts, pour in a cup or so of chicken broth or water to create a flavorful steam bath for your chicken, and sprinkle in the spices.
Remember, the liquid is key to building up that pressure and ensuring your chicken cooks through without drying out. You can’t cook in the Instant Pot without liquid to create the steam pressure.
Seal the lid, make sure the vent is set to the sealing position, and get ready to rock and roll! Set your Instant Pot to the manual or pressure cook setting, depending on your model, and adjust the cooking time. Orion told us to do 15-20 minutes so I did 17 minutes. It’s always better to err on the side of caution and slightly overestimate the cooking time to ensure your chicken is fully cooked. It won’t dry out as easily with this method.
Get 2 Forks Ready: Once the timer goes off and the pressure naturally releases for 10 minutes, get ready to unveil your masterpiece: Frozen Chicken Breasts in the Instant Pot become tender, shreddable chicken breasts.
From stir-fries to salads, sandwiches to soups, the possibilities are endless when it comes to incorporating your Instant Pot frozen chicken breasts into delicious meals. So, next time you find yourself in a pinch, remember: your Instant Pot has got your back, even when your chicken is frozen solid!
