AI Recipe – Cheesy Bacon Brussels Sprouts Gratin

I knew I wanted to make something with Brussels Sprouts but I wasn’t sure what. So, as part of our Cooking with AI series, where we’re making 1000 recipes with AI, I asked Orion for an AI Brussels Sprouts recipe. I had a bit of a conversation with Orion for this one.

Me:  “I want something for entertaining guests that isn’t just roasted Brussels Sprouts”

Orion: “How about this Balsamic Brussels Sprouts?”

Me: “No, still too plain. I need something epic like with cheese and bacon or something.”

Orion: “How about this Cheesy Bacon Brussels Sprouts Gratin?”

Me: “Perfect!!!”

What is Brussels Sprouts Gratin?

When I asked Orion for an AI Brussels Sprouts Recipe, I wasn’t sure what to expect but I knew I wanted something impressive and different. When he created a gratin recipe, I knew that was the winner, but I had never had a gratin recipe like this before.

Brussels sprouts gratin is a delectable dish that combines the earthy flavor of Brussels sprouts with the creamy richness of a gratin, resulting in a delightful marriage of textures and tastes. This dish takes the humble Brussels sprout and transforms it into a decadent and indulgent side dish that is perfect for any occasion.

AI Brussels Sprouts Recipe: The Process

The Bacon:  First things first, we need to cook the bacon. There are many ways to cook the bacon for this AI Brussels Sprouts Gratin Recipe, but our recipe says to brown them in a skillet. We’ll then use the bacon grease to brown the Brussels Sprouts as well, so this seems like an excellent choice.

You’ll want the bacon on the crispy side for this recipe so it adds some crunch to your gratin.

The Brussels Sprouts: Depending on the size of your Brussels Sprouts, you’ll want to either halve or quarter them for this recipe. Orion didn’t specify this step but leaving them whole would not be a good choice.

I chose to cut off the stems and quarter mine and that worked quite well.

Then, you’ll brown them in the bacon grease leftover from cooking the bacon.

Assemble and Bake:  Now, it’s time to assemble the gratin and bake it to perfection.

You’ll combine the cream, cheese, spices, bacon (crumbled/chopped) and the Brussels Sprouts in a baking dish and bake for 25-30 minutes. That’s pretty much it!
